Kidepo Valley national park is a 1442 sq km beautiful wilderness that ranks among the top African savannah destinations popular for safaris where you get a chance to a variety of wildlife species and experience the culture of the Karamajong people living around the plains adjacent to the reserve. The park is home to 77 mammal species such as cheetah, lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and spotted hyena and Rothschild giraffe and over 470 bird species making it a perfect spot for big game safaris and bird watching trips.

Trip itinerary

Day 1

Today you expect to leave Kampala/Entebbe and drive north to Gulu where you will spend the night with a visit to Ziwa Rhino sanctuary where you expect to do a one hour walk to visit the white rhinos in the wilderness. Expect a lunch break and drive on to Gulu/Kitgum

Day 2

After a delicious breakfast, we shall drive through the typical African villages of the Nilotic people surviving in the beautiful plains of the region. The drive to Kidepo takes 5 hours from Gulu and 3 hours from Kitgum with a couple of scenic stops en-route. Expect to check in your accommodation for lunch and relax as we get ready for an evening safari through the Narus valley that offers a wide range of animal sightings

Day 3

Today you expect to have a morning safari on the search of what you may have missed on the last evening. The Kidepo valley wilderness ranks among Africa’s top safari parks and is home to around 77 mammals and over 350 bird species making it a perfect destination for both safari lovers and bird watchers. After the safari, you expect to drive on to the Karamoja region where you will experience the life of the Karamajong semi nomadic pastoralists’ en-route and relax off for the evening. You can also decide to have a night camping at the kraal

Day 4

Today we shall visit the Manyattas and experience some local dances from the homesteads and then drive on to the Sipi falls region located in the eastern part of Uganda. The region is famous for its impressive waterfalls and coffee making culture of the Sabei people surviving I n the region on mixed farming. Expect to do a coffee tour in the afternoon and enjoy one of the most beautiful sunsets over the Karamoja plains.

Day 5

After a delicious continental breakfast, you expect to do a 2-4 hour hike around the impressive waterfalls that gives you more than just amazing photo opportunities but also gives you a chance to interact with the locals and learn about their day to day lifestyle. Expect to take a swim in some of the fresh and safe waterfalls as you cool off the heat. After the we shall drive to Kampala/Entebbe for drop with lunch en-route in Mbale town
